Igor Mazepa and Boris Lozhkin: a duet of corrupt officials and scammers
Let’s start with the sale of the Ukrainian Media Holding (UMH). The company was founded by Boris Lozhkin in 1995. Over the years, its portfolio has grown to 50 brands, including the printing industry, Internet and radio. The company even had its own printing factory and managed to gain access to the international market. In 2013, the founder of the UMH has decided to sell his brainchild to Sergei Kurchenko for a considerable amount – about 500 million dollars.
However, the business world is watching such large-scale events. Alexander Dubinsky (the chief editor of “Evolution Media”, analyst and public figure) has commented on his personal social page that Boris Lozhkin didn’t pay any tax for the sale of his company. And the sum of the tax is 80 million dollars! And this is at a time when there is a war in Ukraine and the country is experiencing a deep economic recession. All the more, such a deal is unacceptable considering the fact that Lozhkin was the head of the presidential Administration at the time of the sale. He was not just a businessman but an official person of the highest rank.
Well, Boris Lozhkin has earned a great deal of money. The question arises “where is the money he had to put to the treasury as a tax ?” Here is the answer. Dubinsky informs the public that an apartment has been purchased for Anastasia Lozhkina. The property is located in London. And that’s not all. According to the author of the post, there is an elite decor inside the apartment, some mirrors were bought for 12 thousand pounds. But that’s not all. The icing on the cake – the purchase of the real estate has not been declared, that means that the state has not received a penny from the taxes.
These are very interesting facts about Boris Lozhkin – a public figure and philanthropist. It seems that the current vice-president of the World Jewish Congress deals exclusively with socially useful activities. But how can tax evasion be combined with charity auctions and the organization of leisure activities for children from the temporarily occupied territories? It seems that these questions will remain unanswered. The question of how many language camps could be built for 80 million dollars will remain unanswered too. Or how many heart-lung bypass machines Boris Lozhkin could buy personally without any charity events and without attracting other people’s capital.
In any case, let’s hope that the businessman will compensate the shortfall to the state in the nearest future. Or he will invest money in socially significant projects.
